Rezso Kokai – Four Hungarian Dances for Clarinet and Orchestra

  • Kokai was a Hungarian composer who taught in Budapest at the National Conservatory and at the Academy of Music.  He also was head of the music department of the Hungarian Radio.


arr. A Klezmer Tribute for Clarinet and Orchestra

  • This medley contains three traditional Klezmer songs: two lively tunes surrounding a slow mournful melody. 


Antonin Dvorak – Rondo for Clarinet and Piano, Orchestra or String Quartet

Originally for cello with orchestra or piano. 7 minutes.

  • This arrangement can be played with orchestra or piano - the solo cello part was transcribed for clarinet.

  • Also playable for clarinet and string quartet with the necessary wind parts written in the strings. This is the version found on the link, which can also be played with string orchestra.


Bela Kovacs – Homage to Carl Maria von Weber

Originally for clarinet solo or clarinet with piano accompaniment. 9 minutes.

  • Kovacs’ Weber Homage to which was added original music, an introduction and several transitions.  There is a version for clarinet and orchestra and one for clarinet and piano.  The orchestral version was made from the accompaniment that already existed to which was added original music.  This version is the one heard on the link. 


Kreisler – Praeludium and Allegro

For clarinet and piano or clarinet, string orchestra, piano, bass, and drum set – 6 minutes (depends on number of jazz choruses).

  • The original version of the Kreisler is for violin and piano. Sections of the Praeludium and Allegro were interspersed with the song Autumn Leaves, which follows a similar harmonic pattern to the Kreisler. The first section is the Kreisler, followed by jazz choruses, and concluding with a section of the Kreisler.

  • Mostly traditional Hanukah music arranged for clarinet and orchestra.  There are two versions - the shorter version contains 3 songs, and the longer includes "Light One Candle" (Peter, Paul, and Mary), for which the clarinetist sings and then plays a verse.
